Exciting News: IIAM Awarded OPTN Business Membership!
We’re proud to announce that IIAM has been approved as a Business Member of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) — a public-private partnership that connects all key players in organ donation and transplantation.
What does this mean for the research community? As a recognized OPTN Business Member, offering services fulfilling OPTN obligations to honor donor gifts, IIAM is granted access to critical medical information needed to assess suitable non-transplant organs against research requirements for biomaterial. IIAM offers researchers comprehensive de-identified donor information, arming investigators with data tailored to meet specific scientific criteria. This access is essential for advancing breakthrough medical research and ensuring the most effective use of donated organs.
As per the OPTN “The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) serves the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) under contract with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Under that contract, UNOS supports the OPTN Membership & Professional Standards Committee’s (MPSC) review of issues that may involve any OPTN member’s noncompliance with OPTN obligations, including the requirements of NOTA, the OPTN Final Rule, and OPTN Management and Membership Policies, including potential threats to patient health and public safety. A subcommittee of the OPTN Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC) met on March 25, 2025, and reviewed the Business Membership application for OPTN membership. The subcommittee determined that IIAM meet(s) the criteria for Business Membership in the OPTN and granted interim approval effective March 25, 2025. The two-year term will conclude on March 24, 2027.
