Virtually every non-transplantable organ and tissue in the human body is needed for research, and nearly every disease that plagues mankind is being studied. Thanks to the generous gifts from donors and their families, research teams are making vital breakthroughs for treating many devastating illnesses — discoveries that help save and prolong lives. As ultimate contributors to these medical advancements, donors are the lifeline of IIAM and our growing network of research partners.
The Most Precious Gift
Faced with the loss of a loved one, many families seek a positive outlet for their grief by donating organs for transplantation; often honoring the wishes of their loved one. At times, medical issues or the circumstances of the death limit donation for transplantation of certain organs. IIAM’s services allow for additional opportunities to leave lasting legacies through donation for medical research.
IIAM has been instrumental in supporting diabetes research, placing nearly 350 pancreas for medical study to help researchers find a cure for Types 1 and 2 diabetes!

Neonatal Donors and Families
We support families making donation decisions to find ways for their loved one’s gifts to help others. Through your local organ procurement organization, we will work very closely with you and your medical team to explore as many options as possible to provide a legacy for your baby through donation. Despite all of our efforts, donation may not always happen and we encourage you to have alternate plans in place as you near your delivery date.
