IIAM Expands Team of Placement Coordinators

IIAM is pleased to welcome Katie Larnard and Caitlin Touhey, who recently completed their training and are independent per-diem Placement Coordinators. We would also like to recognize Brian Bush and Jennifer Evans and Timothy Tressler, who have graduated to full-time status over the past six months.

Katie Larnard

Katie Larnard has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Investigations and worked at the Erie County Medical Examiner’s office in Buffalo, NY. Her 10 years of OPO experience began at UNYTS in Williamsville, NY, near Buffalo as a Donor Screening specialist. Katie joined LiveOnNY in New York City for seven years in tissue donor screening and as a Placement Coordinator. She currently works per-diem at LiveOnNY. In 2016, she moved back to Buffalo and worked in medical records for a year. In 2017, she became a full-time Organ Recovery Coordinator/preservationist at UNYTS. “I love learning the research side and working with the amazing team at IIAM,” she said. “I never knew how much goes into research and how many opportunities exist.”

Caitlin Touhey

Caitlin Touhey graduated from Temple University in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In 2013, after gaining experience in the mental health field, she began working as an In-house Coordinator at The Gift of Life Donor Program. She was responsible for tissue and organ screening and allocation, as well as coordinating organ recoveries. Caitlin joined IIAM in February 2018 and very quickly grew into an outstanding placement coordinator with excellent communication and placement skills. In October 2018, she also accepted a position as a Procurement Coordinator in Transplant through the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Brian Bush

Brian Bush spent 10 years with Mid-America Transplant Services, St. Louis, MO (and the IL region), in nearly every role — Organ/Tissue Recovery Coordinator, Hospital Development, Public Relations and Call Center Manager. Shortly thereafter, he began his career with the Illinois Secretary of State Office’s Organ/Tissue Donor Program and more recently served as Community Outreach Coordinator. Brian, who graduated from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale with a degree in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service, is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He has served on the Donate Life America Donor Designation Collaborative and as a state team leader for Donate Life Illinois. Brian has more than 22 years of experience in the donation and transplant field.

Jennifer Evans

Jennifer Evans joined IIAM in 2016 with a decade of experience in the transplant field. She started her career at the Utah Lion’s Eye Bank as a Recovery Technician, and after a move across the country, was a Tissue Donor Coordinator at Lifebanc in Cleveland, Ohio. More recently, Jennifer had served as a Donor Coordinator for MTF Biologics, our parent organization, as well as Intermountain Donor Services in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has a degree in Health Administration and is CTBS certified.

Timothy Tressler

Timothy Tressler has been working with IIAM since November 2017. Prior to joining our team, he was an Organ Perfusion Coordinator with We Are Sharing Hope SC in Charleston, SC. Before moving into the transplant field, he was an ER technician at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston and a Surgical Trauma ICU technician at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Overall, he has worked in the healthcare field for 17 years.

“Katie, Caitlin, Brian, Jennifer and Timothy offer decades of collective experience in the organ transplant world,” said Lily Mathe, Supervisor of Organ Placement Coordinators at IIAM. “They bring a unique, broad set of skills including handling organ and tissue allocation, recovery, and quality assurance. These skills — which they have each developed working with high-volume, intensive OPOs — translate well into our exponentially growing Placement Coordinator team!”
