Andrea Haines an “Easy Choice” for nPOD Hero Award

In the words of Maya Angelou, “A hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.” IIAM is proud to announce that Placement Coordinator Andrea Haines received the 10th annual Hero Award, which was presented by the Network for Pancreatic Organ Donors with Diabetes (nPOD) in October 2019 at its OPO Workshop in St. Petersburg, FL.

Kurt Reis, nPOD Donor Development and OPO Liaison, said, “Andrea was an easy choice because she continually goes above and beyond in her efforts for nPOD research. She is simply the best, and we appreciate all that she does for nPOD!”

Mingder Yang, Director of nPOD Admin Core, added, “Andrea is indeed the model coordinator — thorough, proactive and always on top of issues before they blow up. What distinguishes Andrea is her unique desire to learn more about our programs, never being satisfied by sending an offer just because it falls in our criteria.”

Andrea Haines is joined by Mingder Yang, Director of nPOD Admin Core (l) and Kurt Reis, nPOD Donor Development and OPO Liaison (r) after accepting the 2019 nPOD Hero Award.

“We are so grateful to nPOD for creating the Hero Award and could not be prouder of Andrea,” said Gina Dunne Smith, IIAM Executive Director.

“Her unwavering commitment to honor donors, their legacy and the profound impact research can have on the world is legendary. This award recognizes Andrea’s relentless passion and drive to maximize every gift and ensure that every possible placement is achieved. Coordinators like Andrea strengthen IIAM’s partnership with nPOD.”

Martha Anderson, Executive Vice President of Donor Services at MTF Biologics, added, “What a great honor and recognition of Andrea’s commitment to donor families and the critical work nPOD is doing to cure diabetes. Thank you, Andrea!”
